D.J. walked toward Josie, her hands held out to the angel who had saved her life in more ways than one. Just as she reached for her, Josie's eyes widened and her face went sheet white. D.J. snatched her hands back as the fear she had so recently banished returned full force. |

"Josie? What's the matter?" |

Josie stared at the doorway to the cabin, then her gaze returned to D.J's. Her mouth opened and closed helplessly. Then she just pointed. |

"Dad!" D.J. exclaimed. "What are you doing up here?" |

D.J. frowned. Her father looked as bad as Josie. She glanced at the angel. Josie began to fade. |

"Wait!" D.J. cried, reaching out for her angel. Her hands passed through Josie's body. |

Josie turned her gaze on D.J., her eyes a well of sadness where before there had been only joy. She tried to speak, but no sound came out of her mouth. She reached for D.J., but her hands became wisps of smoke. D.J. blinked, and the angel disappeared. |

"Good-bye," she whispered to the empty air. "I'll never forget you." |
